A Necessary Follow-up
After successful viral marketing of “Is it still worth getting into Planetside 2.” It was necessary to follow that video up with something that provided a landing zone for players that were arriving due to finding that video.
Approach
Any MMO, but Planetside 2 especially, is intimidating to get into. You feel like the new kid in the class and you feel hopelessly behind. Taking an approach that provides the right amount of training and encouragement to get new players over that hurdle of joining the community is key for successful new player guides.
Character Creation
There is not much to it in Planetside 2. It can be disappointing, luckily there is plenty of customization in game and it lets new Auraxians know that.
New Player Tutorial
It runs new players through the tutorial. It does cover Koltyr which no longer exists, that will be updated when the revamped version comes out.
Adjust Settings
It runs new players through customization so they know how to mess around with the colors on their UI and make the game more comfortable for them.
Encouragement
No player can expect to be great their first day on Auraxis. But many easier shoots have made this be the norm. It lets them know they will get the hang of it!
